Podcast: 2016 and Beyond
On this episode of InfoComm Today, InfoComm Executive Director and CEO David Labuskes, CTS®, CAE, RCDD, delivers his annual state-of-the-association podcast. The year 2016 saw the industry embrace the new APEx program and the Board of Directors ratify a new three-year strategic plan. Dave fills you in on all the details.
The Backbone of an Industry

There has been some speculation that the consumerization of technology and Big Box-ification of AV distribution might lead to customers cutting out trained AV professionals and buying their systems directly from manufacturers or retailers. InfoComm’s Brad Grimes writes about why the AV pro isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

InfoComm Welcomes Three New APEx Companies
Three new companies have joined InfoComm’s AV Provider of Excellence (APEx) program: USIS of Pearl River, NY; Cerami & Associates of New York, NY; and Mission Electronics of Lenexa, KS. The APEx program was created to recognize AV integration companies and design consulting firms that set high standards for employee training and certification and meet their clients’ needs by delivering exceptional solutions.
InfoComm Accepting Nominations for 2017 Awards

After nominations are received, the InfoComm Awards Committee selects the winners who are then honored at the InfoComm June show. InfoComm is accepting 2017 award nominations until March 31, 2017.

Return on Intention

In the AV industry, we love to talk about return on investment. Taking the acquisition costs or the total cost of ownership and comparing it with the success metrics of our customers to justify the project. And often these conversations lead to customers feeling like the investment is too great for the payback, especially when the technology being offered is a premium solution. Guest blogger Jennifer Davis shines light on a better approach: understanding the customer’s overarching goal for this technology. Read her blog.

Pro-AV Business Index Keys in on Emerging Technologies

The Pro-AV Business Index is a free monthly gauge of the industry’s economic health. It comprises two key indexes: one for monthly billings and the other for industry employment. In the latest survey, we asked members of the AV Intelligence Panel how various emerging technologies might impact their business offerings. The top three? Huddle spaces, wireless AV signal transmission and cloud services. Download the report now.
