InfoComm Academy@Columbus
Forty people attended InfoComm Academy's regional RU event, sponsored by Community Professional Loudspeakers, on October 2 at the Athenaeum in Columbus, Ohio. Attendees earned six RUs and enjoyed presentations from Duffy Wilbert, CTS, Senior Vice President of Membership, InfoComm International; Scott Wills, CTS-D, CTS-I, Director of International Education, InfoComm International; and Paul Streffon, CTS-D, CTS-I, InfoComm Academy Staff Instructor, InfoComm International.

Audiovisual Systems Design and Coordination Components Standard Open For Public Review
InfoComm has opened its second draft standard, Audiovisual Systems Design and Coordination Components, for public review. This review process is being conducted in accordance with the ANSI accredited standards developer process. During this period, the document, designated "Draft Standard 1" (DS1) will be made available for review electronically on the InfoComm website.

This is your opportunity to continue to play a role in the transformation of the audiovisual industry into a globally standards-based profession and we welcome your involvement! If you would also like to participate as an expert contributor, email standards@infocomm.org.

Performance Standards Planning Committee Welcomes New Members
The InfoComm Performance Standards Planning Committee has welcomed three new members:

  • Joy Caspar, CTS, Senior Sales Engineer, Real Time Services, Inc., New York
  • Peter Swanson, CTS, Director, Lincolne Scott, Sydney, Australia.

These new members represent the interests of independent design consultants, domestic systems integrators and international systems integrators, respectively. All three new members have been active in the development of InfoComm performance standards and are valued additions to the committee.

The planning committee would also like to recognize the achievements of two members who have completed their terms. The outgoing chair, Scott Walker, CTS-D, LEED® AP, President, Waveguide Consulting, and Brian Pipe, Principal Consultant, ARUP Communications, have been instrumental in the formation of the program and we are indebted to them and their hard work.
