UCC for All

Until fairly recently, when technology managers got a request to set up videoconferencing and collaboration systems, the options were separated by a chasm of options and price. At one end were very expensive, immersive telepresence rooms offering the highest quality audio, video and collaboration technologies to enable remote meetings. At the other end of the spectrum, options were limited to a handful of companies offering a bridge that enabled a video connection via the Web, and the ability to share slide presentations, and often a dial-in connection for voice with a static image of the presenter. See what IMCCA has to say about today's conferencing options.

NewBay Media Acquires AV-iQ From InfoComm International

NewBay Media, publisher of leading commercial AV magazines has acquired AV-IQ, the AV industry's Equipment, Providers Directory & Industry Resource Center, from InfoComm International®. AV-IQ is a comprehensive online resource for the pro-AV industry that includes equipment database, case studies, local service directories, product comparison tools, and much more. It features My-iQ, a personalized, cloud-based industry information resource that allows users to select sources, choose their own content, decide when to receive alerts, manage their own project lists, and search current and historical data by brand, product type, or date.

"InfoComm has proudly owned AV-iQ for 14 years and has overseen its development from a simple online catalog to the robust, comprehensive resource it is today," says David Labuskes, CTS, RCDD, Executive Director and CEO, InfoComm International. "I was initially surprised, albeit flattered, when NewBay approached InfoComm about purchasing this asset. However, as the InfoComm leadership team evaluated the offer, we came to realize that a successful private enterprise, like NewBay, would be better situated to leverage this data solution than a non-profit association ever could."

Understand the Story Behind AV Industry Growth

A new study by Acclaro Growth Partners is projecting that audiovisual products and services will become a $116 billion global industry by 2016. The 2014 InfoComm International Global AV Market Definition and Strategy Study (MDSS), conducted on behalf of InfoComm International®, is the only worldwide study aimed at sizing the commercial audiovisual industry.

The growth of conferencing, signal management, AV acquisition and delivery equipment and streaming media resulted in an 11 percent compound annual growth in demand for AV products and services between 2012 and 2016. The study finds that the audiovisual industry currently generates $92 billion a year. To learn more about what's fueling growth in regions around the world, purchase the MDSS today.
