Leveraging AV Technology for India's Digital Future
On 18 Feb., InfoComm hosted a successful roundtable at My Fortune Hotel in Chennai. The event started with a welcome address from InfoComm
India Country Manager Gaurab Majumdar, who discussed InfoComm activities in India and highlighted the growth of the AV industry in that country.
A total of 65 delegates attended the event and participated actively in the discussion. The sessions were interactive, with attendees particularly
interested in CTS certification
opportunities and upcoming training. Representatives of government agencies discussed a shortage of AV skills training in South India. Coincidentally,
InfoComm announced CTS Prep classroom training in Chennai, coming in November.
Among the presentations, Mr. M. Sivakumar, CEO of the ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu
(an initiative of the government of India and Tamil Nadu), highlighted the role of the center in promoting digitalization at universities, colleges and
schools and the importance of AV technology. Special thanks to the United States Consulate in Chennai for their support. |

On the heels of CTS Prep in Bangalore, InfoComm held India's first Networked AV Systems class of 2015 for 24 students, 25-27 Feb.
The three-day class took place at Harman International in Bangalore and was taught by InfoComm Staff Instructor Rod Brown, CTS-D, CTS-I. Students

at All Wave AV Systems. |
InfoComm International is now offering its CTS exams at a 50-percent discount in India. This is part of an effort aimed at increasing the
affordability of the CTS exam in countries categorized by The World Bank as developing nations. "InfoComm is dedicated to increasing the
professionalism of the audiovisual industry, and part of that commitment includes increasing the number of CTS holders worldwide," said David
Labuskes, CTS, RCDD, Executive Director and CEO of InfoComm International. "In order to gain greater traction for the credential in the
Indian marketplace and better serve the local audiovisual industry and its customers, InfoComm decided to take the local cost of living into
account, increasing the affordability of the exam."
The new cost of taking the general CTS exam is 9,100 rupees or US$150 for members, 12,100 rupees or US$200 for non-members. The CTS-Design
and CTS-Installation exams cost 12,100 rupees or US$200 for members, 15,100 rupees or US$250 for non-members.
To make it easier for industry professionals to purchase InfoComm membership, training and certification, the association is now able to accept
payments in rupees and U.S. dollars. "This change is designed to make it easier for the local industry to participate as part of the InfoComm
community," Labuskes said. |
