AV Historians Booth – Ready For Your Stories!

Our AV Historians booth will also be available in the Lounge. InfoComm International's AV Historian Project is an oral living history project capturing stories from audiovisual professionals in a portable recording booth. If you would like to share some of your own stories about the industry, you will be able to make an appointment to record them in the booth. Read more about this exciting project to hear some of the stories that have already been recorded.

Control Rooms

This seminar is for the system integrator who wants to understand video displays Command and Control Rooms (CCRs) and how they have changed over the last 30 years. Additionally, the CCR's design and marketing segments will be explored. Human factors influence size of screen, size of fonts, colors of fonts, and content. CCRs players are the manufacturers of the various disciplines that comprise CCRs – displays, screens, control systems, connecting components, and processing equipment. The past history of CCRs include CRTS in 4:3 and 5:4 aspect ratio, the present includes DLP rear projection, LCDs, plasma in 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios, and the future will include these displays and others in 4:3, 16:9, 15:9 and other aspect ratios. The design section will discuss the how to’s and design issues, such as questions to ask your client, design parameters, and applications. Finally, we will discuss the market segments for CCRs.

Fiber Optic Distribution of AV in an IT Environment

Boardrooms vary from simple shared use rooms to high profile meeting and presentation spaces with extremely sophisticated AV facilities.  We will look at the human (facilities) requirements of a boardroom, and the various types of AV functionality which may be required.  Infrastructure planning will be covered – so there shouldn‘t be any nasty surprises on site during installation!
10:45 - 12:15 Latest Digital Signal Formats and Their Impact on the AV Industry

This presentation will cover the technical principles behind the latest digital AV formats – DVI, HDMI and Displayport. Using these signals in complex AV systems and installation might cause problems we are not so familiar with – problems when sending them over long lengths of cables, the need for smart EDID handling, taking into account various DRM encryptions (like HDCP) and so on. We will learn about these problems and suggest effective solutions.
