DES315 CTS-D Prep Virtual Classroom
Class size is limited to 30. Contact aeberle@infocomm.org for more information.
DES315 CTS-D Prep Virtual Classroom is intended to help experienced designers prepare for InfoComm’s Certified Technology Specialist – Design (CTS-D) certification exam. This intensive five week study program will help you prepare by reviewing design terminology, AV design math skills, and the processes associated with designing an AV environment and infrastructure. The course will also review test-taking processes and strategies and provide practice questions and study drills. A blend of instructor lecture, rote memorization and peer collaboration will help you identify and attack your CTS-D study needs.
DES315 CTS-D Prep Virtual Classroom combines live and self-paced education to help students prepare for the CTS-D exam. Like a classroom course, CTS-D Prep Virtual Classroom includes lectures, assignments and discussions. Instead of meeting in person, students interact online through webinars and a discussion board.

Who Should Take This Class
Anyone interested in taking the CTS-D exam may take this course. Candidates should review the CTS-D Candidate Handbook for a complete list of eligibility requirements for the CTS-D exam before enrolling in this course. This course is based upon material from Design 1, 2 and 3, but cannot replace them. It is intended as a final review before you take the exam.
Important Note: Completion of this program in no way guarantees that you will pass the CTS-D exam, nor will this program cover all the topics listed in the exam content outline. The CTS-D exam must be applied for, paid for and then scheduled separately at a testing center.
PrerequisitesIt is strongly recommended that students take DES201, DES212, DES213 and DES312 — or are experienced designers. The eligibility requirements for the CTS-D exam include a current CTS credential and two years’ experience with AV design. Also, upon reviewing the CTS-D exam content outline, you may determine that you require in-depth instruction in some areas. Use the following documents to determine if you should enroll in CTS-D Prep:
- The CTS-D Readiness Checklist – this document can help you assess whether CTS-D Prep or another course should be you next step in the exam preparation process.
- AV Math Self-Assessment Test – this test covers CTS level math. If you miss more than four questions on this test, consider enrolling in GEN104 AV Math Online before enrolling in CTS-D Prep.
