2015 Michael Vergauwen Scholarship Awarded
Congratulations to the 2015 Michael Vergauwen Scholarship Award winner, Dean Philip, a junior at the University of South Carolina.
While attending college, Philip has worked for InfoComm member HP Electronics, of Baltimore, Md. "Dean has been given the responsibility of working with a crew that has completed several large AV and auditorium projects," said HP Electronics President Robert Hewitt. "He not only faced the challenge eagerly, but performed above all expectations."
Philip, who has taken part in AV training from Crestron and Renkus-Heinz, is studying to be an electrical engineer and looks forward to a career in AV. "I would love to be part of a company that does research and development of new products and can create something truly awe-inspiring," he said.

Michael Vergauwen's Legacy
The memorial fund honors Michael Vergauwen's career achievements in the AV communications industry and his participation in and leadership of InfoComm International. Vergauwen's dedication to the industry and to its members serves as a role model for all InfoComm members.
Michael Vergauwen was the COO of AVI Systems and a long-time board member of InfoComm International® and the International Communications Industries Foundation (ICIF).
As part of the ICIF board of directors, Michael took pride in awarding $200,000 in scholarships to deserving recipients. He strongly believed that growth in the AV industry comes from providing opportunities and support to those wanting to enter the industry and those seeking to develop their careers.
His talent — and his kindness — strengthened the AV community. After his death in 2009, the ICIF created this scholarship carry on his beliefs of strengthening and growing the AV industry through education.
"Michael Vergauwen was a valued member of InfoComm’s Board of Directors and was a tireless advocate for the audiovisual industry. He offered wise counsel and was a good friend to so many of us in the InfoComm family. He will be missed greatly." — Jay Rogina, CTS, CEO Spinitar
