InfoComm Providing Curricula, Student Mentoring, for Brazilian Technology School
By InfoComm International, January 20, 2012
FAIRFAX, VA – InfoComm International®, a leading provider of training, education programs and certification programs for the commercial audiovisual industry, will be providing FAPCOM (Faculdade Paulus de Tecnologia e Comunicação), a technology and communication school in São Paulo, Brazil with licensing to InfoComm International’s premier curricula.
The license will allow FAPCOM to take InfoComm International’s curricula and translate the text to Portuguese. FAPCOM will then be able to publish the curriculum and distribute to students enrolled in the institution and to bookstores. Courses that will be offered are GEN102 Essentials of AV Technology Online, DES212PO Projetos de Instalações Audiovisuais – Principios de Projecto, DES311PO Curso de Projeto de Instalações Audiovisuais, and DES312PO Projeto Audiovisual – Projecto de Sistemas. Publications to be translated and distributed include the AV Installation Handbook and AV Setup Guide for Events, Meetings, Conferences and Classrooms; Best Practices & Procedures. Pivotal to the partnership is the involvement is Nelson Baumgratz, CTS-D®, co-owner of EAV-Engenharia Audiovisual, an InfoComm University Instructor and a faculty advisor at FAPCOM.
“This is a remarkable opportunity, since we will have InfoComm's contents as the core for a brand new two-year graduation technological program, the first ever to be implemented in Brazil,” said Baumgratz. “This course will fulfill FAPCOM's longtime desire to offer a superior technological degree. This is especially important in light of the Brazilian AV market’s need for higher – quality workmanship, a need which has been constantly repeated at InfoComm’s Regional Roundtables in Brazil.
Many students who attend the FAPCOM institution face significant social and financial obstacles and are subsidized by the school. FAPCOM provides students with the opportunity to explore technology and communicative studies essential for professional growth and well-being. With the addition of InfoComm International’s curriculum, students will be given the chance to learn more about how audiovisual technologies are integrated in businesses, events and everyday life.
“These classes we will be creating income-generation opportunities for Brazilian youth at a pivotal moment for the country, which is facing enormous challenges as Brazil readies for hosting the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games,” said Baumgratz.
Additionally, the agreement allows for opportunities for InfoComm International members to interact with faculty and students at the school and connect. The members will act as subject matter experts, and will help students in providing presentations, social event opportunities and future employment opportunities.
“What makes InfoComm’s new partnership with FAPCOM particularly rewarding is that it transcends the printed page and the classroom,” said Terry Friesenborg, CTS, Senior Vice President for International Development, InfoComm International. “It is about the AV industry forming relationships with students that will lift them up and change their lives for the better.”
