Scholarship Winner Named
The International Communications Industries Foundation (ICIF) is pleased to announce that Dean Philip, a junior at the University of South Carolina, has been chosen as the 2015 Michael Vergauwen Scholarship Award winner. While attending college, Philip has worked for InfoComm member HP Electronics, of Baltimore, Md. "Dean has been given the responsibility of working with a crew that has completed several large AV and auditorium projects," said HP Electronics President Robert Hewitt. "He not only faced the challenge eagerly, but performed above all expectations."
Philip, who has taken part in AV training from Crestron and Renkus-Heinz, is studying to be an electrical engineer and looks forward to a career in AV. "I would love to be part of a company that does research and development of new products and can create something truly awe-inspiring," he said.
Philip will receive $5,000 from the ICIF to pursue his degree and join the AV industry. The memorial fund honors Michael Vergauwen's career achievements in the AV communications industry and his participation in and leadership of InfoComm International.

Mark Edwards |
"I would definitely recommend it as a stepping-stone to CTS," explains Mark Edwards, CTS, Operations Director for RTS Communications. "The AV industry is incredibly broad and growing, and as such the Recognized AV Technologist is valuable as a flagstone both for CTS and the AV industry in general. It demonstrates in brief how many elements to the industry there actually are and is a good indication of how the AV industry is overlapping the IT industry."
Both the InfoComm-Recognized AV Technologist test and online prep course are free for members. Read the FAQs to learn more.
