At a special reception this month, InfoComm International® recognized some of the industry's best and brightest. Dr. Joseph Kramer and Mike Tsinberg were named Adele De Berri Pioneers of AV; Rodrigo Ordóñez, CTS®-D, earned the Harald Thiel Volunteer of the Year Award; and Malissa Dillman, CTS-D, CTS®-I, was named InfoComm Educator of the Year. Also recognized were Aneeta Gupta and Penny Sitler as InfoComm Women in AV Award winners; Hong Cheng, CTS-D, CTS-I, and Ilya Khain as Young AV Award winners; and Middle Atlantic Products and Milestone AV Technologies with InfoComm's Sustainable AV Award. Congratulations to the deserving winners.

Record Number of Attendees Connect at InfoComm 2013

 


If you missed this month's InfoComm 2013 in Orlando, Fla., you should be able to find plenty of peers who can fill you in. That's because InfoComm 2013 attracted more AV professionals than any InfoComm ever. InfoComm and Latin Press to Launch New Brazilian AV Trade Show in 2014

 


InfoComm continues to put the "International" in the growing, global pro-AV industry. Earlier this month, the association announced it plans to launch TecnoMultimedia Brasil under the umbrella of TecnoMultimedia InfoComm, a partnership between InfoComm and Latin Press. The new show will co-locate with the ExpoSec security trade show, held at the Centro de Exposicoes Imigrantes in São Paulo in May 2014. Read all about it.

 Call for Nominations

The annual election for open positions on the 2014 InfoComm Board of Directors and Leadership Search Committee (formerly the Leadership Development Committee) will occur this fall. Nominations from the general membership are now being accepted for the following open positions:

  • One Secretary/Treasurer, serving a four-year ascending term as an officer

  • Two Directors at Large, serving two-year terms

  • One LSC member, serving a three-year term

The InfoComm Board of Directors is responsible for managing the affairs and strategy of the association. The group of eight directors and four officers meets via teleconference or in person six to eight times per year. The InfoComm Leadership Search Committee is responsible for the development of future leaders, volunteers, appointments, related events, and nomination of candidates for election to InfoComm positions. The group of 10 members meets via teleconference or in person six to eight times per year.

For all positions, nominations from the general membership will be reviewed by the Leadership Search Committee, which is responsible for nominating final candidates for election to InfoComm offices. Nominations will be accepted until July 15. Please email Duffy Wilbert with the nominee's name and contact information (including phone number and email address), position for which he/she is being nominated, and a one-paragraph business biography.

 AV Systems Performance Verification Standard Review Begins June 28

Public review and comment for InfoComm's latest draft standard, 10-2013 Audiovisual Systems Performance Verification, begins June 28. The public is encouraged to download the draft and provide comments by Aug. 12 at 5 p.m. EDT. The standard provides a framework and supporting processes for determining elements of an audiovisual system that need to be verified; the timing of that verification within the project delivery cycle; a process for determining verification metrics, and reporting procedures.

 InfoComm Expands Functionality of AV-iQ

InfoComm announced that its AV-iQ online product database features new functionality to improve usability for the whole AV value chain. New features include advanced product research criteria, a project list tool that allows the creation of project templates, the ability to feed AV-iQ data into existing systems and refinement of the cloud-based My-iQ solution, which allows customization of searches and more.

"Common categorization and a standardized data format benefits the industry because it reduces the cost of data distribution and entry, leads to the creation of more apps and improves data quality and app performance," said John Fuchs, Senior Vice President, InfoComm iQ. "The ability to standardize data puts the industry on a path to a more innovative future, and the new functionality of InfoComm iQ will improve industry data, make the data easier than ever to access and personalize, and reduce the costs associated with researching products and specifying projects."
