More News from InfoComm

 Strategically Speaking

You've heard it discussed in various corners of professional AV: How do we attract fresh talent to our growing, vibrant industry? InfoComm International®'s Board of Directors, as part of the association's new three-year strategic plan, has made workforce development one of its priorities.

Through new and existing programs, InfoComm is committed to driving qualified hiring prospects to member companies. Its core purpose — to advance audiovisual communications globally — hasn't changed, but in promoting the benefits of a career in the AV communications industry, InfoComm believes member companies can rise to the challenges of new technology, evolving business models and demanding customers. Look for the association to promote the inclusion of AV industry information in appropriate secondary education programs and boost its development of non-traditional education opportunities. A knowledgeable, enthusiastic workforce can be the rising tide that lifts all boats.

What can you do in the short term? AV Week is Oct. 13-19, 2013. InfoComm encourages members to go out into their communities and join a job fair, give a presentation at a local high school, or hold an open house to increase awareness and share the excitement of working in the AV industry. Get more ideas from InfoComm.
