Ford Audio-Video Provides Olympic-Style Training

On Tuesday, February 19, more than 100 employees, including Job Superintendents, Project Managers, Installation Technicians and Project Engineers, came from all divisions to the Ford Audio-Video (FAV) headquarters in Oklahoma City, Okla., for new hire training and continuing education.  FAV holds its annual training session to ensure that Job Center personnel are educated on all aspects of project installation including safety standards, assembly techniques and project management.  Newly hired employees participated in orientation-style classes, and later in the week all personnel attended classes and met with top vendors. Competitions were held throughout the training, in the spirit of the event’s Olympic theme, to energize the educational process. On Thursday night employees attended the “Medal Ceremony” which recognized individual excellence in job performance. Friday concluded the training with more competitions and team-building events.  Bart Connor, Olympic gold medalist, related his personal experiences on the importance of training and being part of a winning team.

Installation Courses Hit the Road

How many skids of equipment do you think it takes to put InfoComm’s hands-on, interactive installation courses on the road? If you guessed 13, you’ve probably been in the business for awhile. For the first time, InfoComm Academy provided both levels of their installation program outside of the Fairfax, Virginia classroom. This was made possible through the generosity of Randy Pagnan, CTS and rp Visuals, who provided enough space for training racks and toolkits for 27 students.

This is the first of three regional offerings of the installation core knowledge courses for 2008. The next is in Atlanta, April 30-May 5. Regional courses are being offered to meet the growing demand for convenient installation training. Visit www.infocomm.org/education for more information about classes offered.
