Smart Building Conference Series Off to a Great Start
The Smart Building Conference,
held 7 October in London, attracted more than 100 delegates and 27 expert speakers. Mike Blackman, Managing Director of Integrated Systems
Events, a joint venture of InfoComm International® and CEDIA, praised the continued evolution of the Smart Building Conference brand.
"Last week's conference showcased great content and builds on our event held in London last year," he said. "We will expand on the positive
momentum generated here with the up-and-coming Smart Building series."
Organisers set the tone early, urging delegates to focus on the experience of people who use modern buildings, rather than on what's smart
and what's not. "It has been good to see a focus on the user and the outcomes, rather than the technology and the inputs," said delegate Peter
Mayer, research and development manager at BLP. "There has also been a welcome reflection of the trend toward applying controls, systems and
'smartness' to existing buildings as opposed to new builds."
Read more from the recent Smart Building
Conference in London. And if you couldn't make it to the London event, future Smart Building Conferences will be held 6 November in
Berlin, 18 November in
Milan, and 9 February 2015
in Amsterdam.

Save the date for our upcoming InfoComm University™ Days in Cardiff
and London. Each will include a full day of
education followed by a networking reception. Join us for seminars on topics such as networked microphones, the behaviour of light in
projection, LED displays, cloud computing, big data and InfoComm's new
AV Systems Performance Verification Guide.
The University Days are free to InfoComm members and include lunch. If you are a CTS® holder, each event offers an opportunity to earn renewal
units. The Cardiff University Day will be held at the conveniently located Thistle Cardiff City Centre on 18 November. The London University Day
will be held onboard the HMS Belfast on 20 November.
Cardiff and
London University Days are supported by
Canon. The London University Day is also supported by Audio-Technica. |
The 7th ASAVI Academy took place in Prague on 15 October. More than 130
professionals came to learn about advanced visual systems, signal management and controls, interactivity and more.
The Asociace Systémové AV Integrace (ASAVI) is dedicated to informing professionals and the public about presentation equipment. Members of
the association offer design, integration and maintenance services for AV systems. The most recent ASAVI Academy featured exhibitors AMX,
Barco, Cisco, Extron, Kramer, NEC, Panasonic, SMART Technologies and WolfVision. |
Keep monitoring your regional InfoComm Update for your next best chance to attend the popular Networking for the AV Industry Programme,
sponsored by AMX Europe. The sold-out London event in October was such as success that we added another London stop in December. But now
that's sold out.
Thankfully, AMX will again support the programme in 2015. Dates and locations for future training opportunities in the UK and Continental
Europe will be announced later this year. The Networking for the AV Industry Programme is worth up to 46.5 renewal units toward
your CTS, CTS-D or CTS-I.
Do you want a taste of what InfoComm and AMX are offering? Read about the class your peers are taking in
Australia in November. |
Are you thinking of testing for your CTS-I credential? Then you should take part in
CTS-I Prep, 2-4 December in
Hemel Hempstead, UK. As with InfoComm's decision to offer Design Boot Camp earlier this year, bringing CTS-I Prep to
Europe is in direct response to members who wanted a way to prepare for CTS-I exams in the UK and Continental Europe. |
InfoComm participated in the Integrated Multimedia Systems Event (IMSE) in
Krakow, Poland, 8-9 October. Godwin Demicoli, CTS, InfoComm's Regional Director in Europe, presented on trends in the professional
AV market. Roughly 200 AV pros participated in the event, which was created to offer insight into new multimedia technology,
demonstrate methods of business development, and foster networking among partners, dealers, integrators, installers and customers. |
If you've wanted to take a deep dive into AV design but haven't been able to make it to an InfoComm University classroom course,
AV Design Level 1, 2 and 3
are now available as online courses. You can take them whenever you'd like and at your own pace.
Perhaps nothing compares to the in-person learning experience of AV design school, but the brand-new AV Design Online courses offer a
good, affordable alternative. Use them as a helpful reference; reinforce what you've learned before testing for your CTS-D; or explore updates
since you last took the courses to gain valuable CTS renewal units (35 in all). The new AV Design Online includes timely features,
videos and the most up-to-date, testable information. Visit infocomm.org/designer to
learn more about the design program and enroll. |

Dear Friends,
It is hard to believe, but 2014 will soon come to an end. InfoComm International® in the Europe, Middle East & Africa
region has enjoyed an engaging and successful year, from a record-breaking Integrated Systems Europe at the beginning of the year
(ISE 2015 is right around the corner) to the recently completed
InfoComm MEA show in Dubai. Throughout the year, you've also
joined us for local roundtable events (including September stops in Stockholm and Vienna), InfoComm University™ training,
Smart Building Conferences and more.
Most recently, InfoComm visited Integrated Systems Russia, 29-31 October, and offered for the first time at that show our intensive three-day training
Essentials of AV Technology, taught by Scott Wills, CTS®-D, CTS-I, InfoComm's Director of
International Member Services, assisted by Robert Shaykhirunov of Polymedia JSC, a long-time member of InfoComm in the Russian Federation.
And for those of you in and around the UK, we'd like you to add another 2014 event to your calendar. In addition to some of the upcoming
education opportunities described in this update, please plan to join us for a year-end networking reception, 12 December, upstairs at the Glassblower, 40-42 Glasshouse St, Piccadilly, London, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. It will be a perfect opportunity to meet with your colleagues and share stories about the passing year.
The event is open to InfoComm members and non-members alike. To RSVP, send an email to
scareless@infocomm.org. We hope to see you then.
Sincerely,
|
