Dear Asian and Oceania Members,

We have a lot of news to announce in this Regional Update. Just in case you missed the press release, InfoComm International® and Alchemedia Events, producer of the Integrate Expo, have signed a three-year exclusive cooperative agreement for Integrate 2011-2013. See the press release.

We are pleased to announce that Elicia Chan joined InfoComm in early May 2010 as the Asia-Pacific Program Coordinator. Elicia will provide admin support for our Asian and Oceania offices, improving customer service for our members throughout the region.

Each year, InfoComm International recognises outstanding contributions to our industry by women. In 2010, Laureen Jones, CTS, of Victoria University of Wellington, has been recognised with a Women in AV Award for demonstrated leadership and outstanding achievement. Congratulations to Laureen on her achievement. Further details on the awards can be found on the InfoComm website.

Demand for class placement in InfoComm Academy’s new delivery platform the virtual classroom is growing strong. With the InfoComm Show just around the corner, it won’t be long before it's time to register for one of the next virtual classroom courses beginning Monday, 5 July. We have two classes being presented by our Australian-based InfoComm Academy Instructor Rod Brown, CTS-D. The two courses on offer are:

  • GEN109 Essentials of AV Technology
  • GEN113 CTS Prep

Please remember that these classes have a maximum number of 25 students, and 50 percent of the course cost is payable by EduBucks.

Details on the course content can be found at www.infocomm.org/education. Please contact your Regional Director for details on course times and prices.

Asia Pacific Future Dates
Our first InfoComm Academy Day in the region will be in Singapore on 27 May 2010 at the Holiday Inn Atrium, Outram. This is a two-part event and is not to be missed. The Academy portion consists of four educational seminars: IT Speak for the AV Professional, Fiber Optics — Signal Transmission for the AV Industry, Basic Audio Concept, and Specifying Image Brightness and Contrast.

The afternoon roundtable will welcome upper-level management and business owners. You will learn about industry-specific current events, receive association information and enjoy an excellent networking opportunity. Also, we will discuss our new Global Market Definition and Strategy Study.

This Academy Day and roundtable is being sponsored by Kramer Electronics Asia, Communication Specialties, Inc., ARX and ClockAudio.

Of course, we have InfoComm 2010 in Las Vegas, NV, USA on 9 June through 11 June, with education starting on Saturday, 5 June. Our International Reception is on Wednesday, 9 June at 5:30 p.m. and all are welcome.

InfoComm Academy @ Integrate is going to be an excellent event as well. The Super Tuesday Program is on Tuesday, 24 August. There is an InfoComm Networking Function on Tuesday, 24 August during the Last Hour of the Show at the InfoComm booth, RHI. All are welcome. There will also be a VID214 Video Conference Workshop* on Wednesday, 25 August, and a DGS214 Digital Signage Workshop* on Thursday, 26 August.
