The primary challenge of this project was to layer AV technology into the finely tuned acoustics of the Concert Hall. Early on it was decided that the audio consoles were to be digital; however, the original infrastructure was designed for analog and required extensive analysis of the wiring and conduit to make the necessary changes without creating additional cost.
Additionally, engineering of the speaker cluster was also a challenge, as it required that the cluster disappear above the acoustical clouds during symphonic performances. This was achieved by having the cluster pass through the cloud through doors that slide open.
Ethernet nodes located throughout the facility allow DMX and ACN protocols to be distributed anywhere, and wireless access points let control laptops function anywhere in the concert hall, allowing the operators to access lighting information in any location.
