InfoComm International Audiovisual (AV) Crestron Releases Control App for iPhone®

DENVER -- Crestron announced the release of its control application for the Apple® iPhone® at CEDIA. The Crestron control app is available as a free download from the iTunes® App Store and provides seamless control of the home and office. Launch the Crestron app from the iPhone for complete control and management of home entertainment, AV presentation and environmental systems such as climate, lighting and shades. Control multiple locations from a single, intuitive graphical interface that provides real-time status of room temperature, lighting levels, shade position and digital media meta data such as volume, title and artist.

The Crestron Control App for iPhone is fully integrated with Crestron programming software including SystemBuilder, VT Pro-e and SIMPL Windows. The app appears as a symbol in the Crestron data library, which can be dragged and dropped into the control program and uploaded to a Crestron 2-Series control system. Custom GUI designs and program settings are implemented exactly the same as with any other control module.

Download the Crestron Control App to the iPhone free from the iTunes App Store. Launch the app on the iPhone to initialize communication between the device and the Crestron control system. Simply name the home or office as a location, enter the IP address of the 2-Series controller and establish a password for security. Multiple locations may be entered in the phone. Once the “Connections” page is closed, 2-way communication is instantly established and the XML data file transfers from the Crestron controller to the iPhone. The iPhone displays the Crestron graphical interface and seamlessly controls all integrated systems as if directly from a Crestron touchpanel.

Any updates or changes to the control program are automatically sent to the iPhone when the Crestron app is launched. New locations are easily added by opening the “Connections” page on the iPhone. The Crestron Control App is compatible with the original iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPod® touch.
