Visix Offsets Carbon Emissions with Carbonfund.org

ATLANTA, Ga. -- Visix, Inc. announced today that it has implemented a program to offset a portion of the company’s carbon emissions with Carbonfund.org, the country’s leading carbon reduction and offset organization.
For each PC shipped in 2007, Visix will donate five dollars to renewable energy and reforestation projects. The company supplies both Content Server and Channel Player hardware on PC platforms to support their visual communications software technologies. Visix is taking this fundamental step to offset environmental damage caused by manufacturing and transportation processes necessary to the business.
“We’re concerned about global warming and the impact that our daily operations have on the environment,” stated Sean M. Matthews, President of Visix. “Considering the implications of climate change, carbon offsets through Carbonfund.org are a positive contribution that we can make on behalf of our company and our customers.”
Visix is working to further improve the organization’s environmental impact by offsetting travel to the InfoComm 2007 trade show in June with the purchase of additional carbon offset credits. The company is also taking steps to reduce energy consumption at the Atlanta headquarters, and employees are being educated about steps they can take to make a positive contribution to climate protection efforts.
Carbonfund.org is a non-profit organization whose goal is to make carbon offsets and climate protection easy, affordable and a normal way of life for every individual and business. Carbon offsets enable individuals and businesses to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in one location, where it is cost effective, to offset the emissions they are responsible for in their normal activities, like home, office, driving or air travel emissions. For instance, a clean, zero CO2 wind farm can offset the carbon dioxide produced by a coal-fired power plant. By supporting renewable energy, energy efficiency, and reforestation projects Carbonfund.org will retire an equivalent amount of carbon offsets. The financial support from these offsets will then help to continue the development of clean, renewable domestic sources of energy.
