DES213 AV Design Level 2: Infrastructure

During this classroom course you will learn about how the building's physical structure can dramatically affect your AV design. This course emphasizes working with other trades including HVAC, electrical, interior designer, lighting, IT and networking, and architects. You will learn critical considerations that will help you design better systems for your customers.

Who Should Take This Class
This course is fundamental for anyone who reads, works with, or creates AV designs, including AV designers, engineers, technology managers and project managers.

Prerequisites
It is strongly recommended that students complete DES201 Design Online and DES212 AV Design Level 1:  Environment.

Course Content
Areas of study include:

  • AV design best practices
  • power and grounding (earthing)
  • electromagnetic interference issues
  • Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)
  • heat loads within AV racks
  • lighting systems
  • working with IT departments and project documentation
  • working with other trades is a common thread throughout the course.

Time Commitment
This classroom course is three days long, eight hours per day. Additional evening work may be required.
