Essentials of AV Technology Virtual Classroom is a comprehensive, introductory overview of science and technology for audio, visual and audiovisual systems integration. Like a classroom course, Essentials of AV Technology Virtual Classroom includes lectures, assignments and discussions. Who Should Take This Class

  • Those new to the AV industry or those who already understand the context of their job and how the industry works, but need to build their technical knowledge. 
  • Individuals who are preparing for the InfoComm-Recognized AV Technologist Certificate.

You can take this same course in-person or online. You will want to take GEN102 or GEN111. Students should feel comfortable keeping track of due dates and using online tools such as discussion boards and webinars.

  • Learn about the fundamentals of light and sound and how they relate to the industry.
  • Technology concepts of microphones, loudspeakers, basic networking, cameras and displays are taught, as well as their signal types and signal flow.
  • Don't miss the new sections on networking for data and AV, RF, digital and analog signals, customer service lessons, future trends and more.

Course Structure
Students meet online for five weeks. Instructors deliver lectures and hold discussions through live webinars. Students complete online assignments such as readings, peer discussions and worksheets. Peer discussions take place on an online discussion board.

Participation is required in order to receive a certificate of completion or RUs.
