Industry Innovations

As the world’s leading audiovisual technology trade association, InfoComm International has compiled decades of ideas, terminology, programs and technical information concerning the audiovisual industry. These ideas are conceived and reviewed by thousands of dedicated volunteers who consider their authenticity and usefulness.

There is tremendous diversity in the way audiovisual designers and integrators perform their craft and create systems. Audiovisual systems are always a part of a greater picture and integrate with architectural, engineering and other technology systems in buildings and live events.  As such, it is important that there is some agreement within the audiovisual industry as to how to represent and build these systems. These ideas fall into the concept of “best practices.”

The InfoComm International Board of Directors periodically authorizes the formation of special task forces to explore complex audiovisual issues. These task forces may explore programming, building information, environmental, procedural and sustainability issues, among many others. The outcome of these task forces may be published whitepapers and reference documents illustrating a consensus of thinking from subject matter experts (SMEs.) These task forces can also serve as idea incubators for future audiovisual standards.
