CTS-D Study Resources
Please keep in mind that InfoComm Academy is not your only avenue for test preparation, and there is no single publication or class that will prepare you for the exam. However, InfoComm's deep body of knowledge lends itself easily to test preparation. Here are some suggestions on where to begin:
Self Study Assessment (PDF): An interactive PDF with descriptions of topics in the exam outline. It's set up like a worksheet to help you determine what areas to study. If you need to brush up, there are study resources listed for each topic, many of which are free!
Self-Assessment Tools: Free online tests to help you evaluate your readiness for the CTS-D exam.
Sample Exam Questions (PDF): A selection of questions similar to what you'll find on the CTS-D exam.
DES212 AV Design Principles: Environment: Explores elements that affect the planning and design of environments with sound reinforcement, display, projection needs, etc.
DES213 AV Design Principles: Infrastructure: Explores elements that affect the planning and design of the infrastructure supporting AV environments including HVAC, electrical, cable pathways, lighting, IT connectivity, etc.
DES312 Applied AV Design: A comprehensive application of design best practices as they are taught in DES212 AV Design Principles: Environment and DES213 AV Design Principles: Infrastructure.
DES314 CTS-D Prep: A two-day classroom course to help experienced designers prepare for the CTS-D exam by reviewing design terminology, applicable math skills, and the processes associated with designing an AV environment and infrastructure.
