InfoComm to Offer Live Event Training at PLASA09

By InfoComm International, July 23, 2009

FAIRFAX, VA — InfoComm International, the trade association representing the professional audiovisual industry, will be offering live event training at PLASA09. PLASA09, being held 13-16 September in Earls Court, London, is the leading event presented by PLASA, the professional body for businesses that supply technologies and services to the entertainment, live event, leisure and architectural industries.

From 13-15 September, InfoComm will be teaching Staging and Event Management, a class designed for live event managers, technical directors, and AV technicians. “The ability to manage technical departments, clients and venues is a learned skill. Clients expect to see a return on investment, and live event professionals are expected to maintain budgets, weigh profitability and explore opportunities to provide additional services and products,” said InfoComm Staff Instructor, Andre LeJeune, CTS. “This course examines the diverse parts of staging an event and teaches attendees how they work together as a whole.”

Topics covered include pre-show planning, contract labor, production schedules, rigging, sets and stages, audio systems, video and display systems and stage lighting. Audiovisual professionals holding the CTS designation are eligible to receive 24 credits for completing the class.

“InfoComm is known for providing quality education courses around the world and we are pleased to be able to offer our new live event planning curriculum at PLASA,” said Terry Friesenborg, CTS, Senior Vice President, International Development, InfoComm International. “PLASA is a leading event on the industry calendar and InfoComm is delighted to be part of this groundbreaking event.”

Nicola Rowland, PLASA Director of Events commented, “InfoComm’s reputation for excellence in audiovisual education is founded on the in-depth, real-world expertise offered by its training programs, and its trainers’ ability to share that knowledge effectively with a diverse audience. It makes InfoComm’s intensive live event training at PLASA09 a unique opportunity for audiovisual professionals to expand their technical and practical know-how — and to significantly broaden their career horizons.”
